From frustration or uncertainty to discovery
Do you know that moment?
You are halfway up a mountain. Your legs are heavy, your breathing is irregular, and that little voice whispers: “Why am I doing this?” or “What is the point?”
And then… you walk around a corner… BAM!
Suddenly, the view opens up. Unexpected. Overwhelming. Unforgettable.
That is often how it works in life, and in business as well. Behind every challenge, every obstacle, every “boulder” — something beautiful awaits you… An opportunity. A new insight. A silent lesson waiting to be seen.
From frustration or uncertainty to discovery
When things go differently than planned—for example, a client drops out, a conversation doesn’t feel right, a door closes—I try to ask myself (after the initial frustration): “What am I learning from this?”
Not “Why is this happening to me?”
But “What is this bringing me?”
Even with people – sometimes there is an immediate connection, sometimes something within us is touched: irritation, insecurity, uncertainty, discomfort.
Instead of pointing outward, it is powerful to ask:
“What is this person mirroring to me?”
“What am I experiencing with this person that tells me more about myself—my needs, my shortcomings—than about the person themselves?”
When you point one finger,
three are pointing back at you.
Exercises:
Turning triggers into teachers
When you train yourself to look with an open heart, even when it is difficult, every situation and every person becomes your teacher.
Not the “just be positive” mentality! That is bypassing.
But embodying the moment:
- Allow yourself to be triggered. You are human.
- Take a moment to STOP.
- Observe the sensations in your body, what changes in your breathing, heart rate, and tension.
- Name what you feel. I feel… with compassion.
- Regulate yourself; release the tension in your body.
- Ask: “What can I learn?”
Growth does not always look like success. Sometimes it looks more like struggling, the necessity of making difficult choices, or letting go.
But if you look closely, behind every difficult moment lies a hidden perspective – a new layer of understanding, strength, and peace.
When was the last time you learned an unexpected lesson in a difficult situation?
I am curious to hear what you discovered during your own climb.
